چکیده

Concentrated, non-crystallizing colloidal suspensions in their approach of the glass state exhibit distinct dynamics patterns. These patterns suggest a powerlaw rheological constitutive model for nearglass viscoelasticity, as presented here. The rheological parameters used for this model originate in the mode-coupling theory. The proposed constitutive model provides explicit expressions for the steady shear viscosity, the steady normal stress coeffi:cient, the' modulus-compliance relation, and the a peak of G". The relaxation pattern distinctly, differs from gelation.

Effect of colloidal Particles associated with the liquid bridge in sticking during drying in Superheated Steam

It is very important in the design of a drying system is to evaluate sticking behaviour of the materials goes under drying. A new approach to the sticking issue is applied in this study by carrying out a sticking test for the liquid associated with the materials under study. It was found that the liquid bridge is responsible of the initial sticking of the materials to the contact surface and th...

Glass transitions in quasi-two-dimensional suspensions of colloidal ellipsoids.

We observed a two-step glass transition in monolayers of colloidal ellipsoids by video microscopy. The glass transition in the rotational degree of freedom was at a lower density than that in the translational degree of freedom. Between the two transitions, ellipsoids formed an orientational glass. Approaching the respective glass transitions, the rotational and translational fastest-moving par...

High-order mode-coupling theory for the colloidal glass transition.

A theoretical approach is developed to derive a hierarchy of mode-coupling equations for the dynamics of concentrated colloidal suspensions, which improves the prediction of the colloidal glass transition. Our derivation is based on a matrix formalism for stochastic dynamics and the resulting recursive expressions for irreducible memory functions. The 1st order truncation of the generalized mod...

Colloidal glass transition: beyond mode-coupling theory.

A new theory for the dynamics of concentrated colloidal suspensions and the colloidal glass transition is proposed. The starting point is the memory function representation of the density correlation function. The memory function can be expressed in terms of a time-dependent pair-density correlation function. An exact, formal equation of motion for this function is derived and a factorization a...

Comment on "Probing the equilibrium dynamics of colloidal hard spheres above the mode-coupling glass transition".

We use dynamic light scattering and computer simulations to study equilibrium dynamics and dynamic heterogeneity in concentrated suspensions of colloidal hard spheres. Our study covers an unprecedented density range and spans seven decades in structural relaxation time, tau(alpha0, including equilibrium measurements above phi(c), the location of the glass transition deduced from fitting our dat...
